Rio Rancho Real Estate
Rio Rancho is the third largest city in the state of New Mexico and one of the fasted growing cities in the state. Located just 18 miles west of Albuquerque, this diverse city has experienced rapid growth since 2000, with 93,000 residents who call Rios Rancho their home. This growth is due to a strong local economy and close proximity to Albuquerque.
The city’s history can be traced back to 1710, when the Spanish issued the Alameda Grant, which Rio Rancho was a part of. The city was incorporated in 1981. Many young families moved to the area during that time, in part due to Intel opening a major plant there.
Residents enjoy a wide range of shopping and dining options. In addition to local stores and artisans that sell southwestern-flavored art and crafts, the nearby Cottonwood Mall offers major retail options and is the largest mall in New Mexico, with more than 135 retailers.
For the outdoor enthusiast, there’s plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Rio Rancho, with bike paths, 6 dog parks, 5 maintained trails, and 4 aquatic centers. And of course, nearby Albuquerque offers it’s own vast array of recreational opportunities.
Students living in Rio Rancho are served by Rio Rancho Public Schools, which manages 18 schools, including two traditional high schools and two alternative high schools, plus four middle schools, 10 elementary schools and one preschool.
