They noted that Albuquerque has low cost bus fares, health care, and a host of services and amenities that help retirees maximize their budgets and stay active. They also cite that “Albuquerque is one of the healthiest cities in the country with a high number of medical facilities, lots of exercise options and affordable housing.” Albuquerque also enjoys a dry climate and low cost of living, along with recreational facilities that also make it an ideal place for retirement.
Albuquerque really does take care of it’s senior residents. Residents over the age of 62 can ride the bus for only 35 cents. The University of New Mexico offers classes to seniors for only $5 per credit hour. There are also six senior centers in the city that offer seniors activities and social outlets for an annual membership of $13.
