So you’ve been thinking about selling your home in Albuquerque, but your home is in dire need of a remodel. Or maybe you just want to live in an updated home. But the issue is that you’re having trouble finding the time to devote to such a huge project.
Time is an asset, and like any asset it can be managed. It may not be easy to carve out time for a remodel, but it can be done with some planning and sacrifices. Here are some ideas that can help you find the time you need to remodel your Albuquerque home.
1. Less Shopping
How much time do you spend shopping? You may spend hours looking for ingredients for cooking, or maybe you just like getting out of the house. One way to save shopping time is to have a food delivery service do the shopping for you. Or you can pickup food ordered online from a store that offers that service. This can give you a couple of extra hours per week that you can use to work on your home.
2. Assign Chores to the Kids
“I love chores!” said no kid ever. But learning how to clean and work is a great way to get your kids (if you have any) to help you gain more time and to teach them how to care for a home. You could gain up to 6 hours a week if you get some help around the house. While you’re at it, you could even enlist your children to help you with the remodeling since you’ve saved enough time to start.
3. It’s Okay to Say “No”
Do you always say “yes” when people ask for help? It really is OK to say “no” once in a while. You are the one that needs help now, so go ahead and help yourself. See where you can shave time off your plans with other people. When a friend or family wants to spend time with you, just tell them what you’re planning. No doubt they’ll understand.
4. Don’t Set Unattainable Goals
“Let’s do all the things!” is what some people say when they remodel. But if you go overboard with your remodeling goals, it can end up in frustration. Instead, set small goals that you can easily reach one at a time. You’ll be able to save time because you won’t be frustrated as often and you won’t be spending time on things that you won’t be able to accomplish.
5. Spend Less Time on Social Media
Social media is a great place to get remodeling ideas. But it can also take away the time you need to remodel. Try doing a “social media fast” for a few days every week. You may need to be strict about it. But when you get started, you may realize how much time you’re freed up. Maybe by the end of the remodel, you’ll find you don’t need social media as much as before.
By cutting time from other less-important aspects of life, you’ll find that you have plenty of time available for you. You’ll be able to put that time into the other things that you have been hoping to accomplish. So, take a break and allow yourself the time that you need to make your home into the home that you want.
