It’s National Dog Biscuit Day Albuquerque

Let’s Paws to celebrate National Dog Biscuit Day, Albuquerque! As a long-time Duke City resident and dedicated dog mom, I couldn’t let today pass without sharing some tail-wagging ways to celebrate with your four-legged family members. At The Sandi Pressley Team, we don’t just help you find the perfect home – we help you create the ideal life in Albuquerque for everyone in your family, including those with paws.

Treat your pup to something special today.

When your dog looks at you with those soulful eyes, it reminds you that they’re more than companions; they’re family members. National Dog Biscuit Day is the perfect opportunity to show them some extra love, and Albuquerque offers plenty of ways to do that.

Albuquerque’s Best Spots for Premium Dog Treats

Let’s look at ABQ’s best spots for getting premium dog treats today. Over my years helping families find their dream homes across Albuquerque, I’ve discovered some fantastic local businesses that cater to our canine companions. If you’re out and about in the city today, consider stopping by one of these pet-friendly gems:

Three Dog Bakery in Uptown has been our team’s go-to for years. Their handcrafted, fresh-baked treats use human-grade ingredients and always have special-themed holiday treats. Today, they offer “buy one, get one” dog cookies to celebrate National Dog Biscuit Day. My team members’ dogs particularly love their “Pumpkin Spice” cookies.

Boofy’s Best for Pets on Montgomery is another local treasure, and we often stop there after showing homes in the Northeast Heights. They carry an excellent selection of natural and organic treats, including locally made options. The owner, Rebecca, is incredibly knowledgeable about pet nutrition and can help you select the perfect treat based on your dog’s dietary needs.

Clark’s Pet Emporium on Lomas has been an Albuquerque institution for decades, and their treat selection never disappoints. When showing homes in the Nob Hill area, I often recommend new residents stop by to introduce themselves and their four-legged family members. Their bulk treat bar lets you mix and match, and today, they’re offering a special National Dog Biscuit Day sampler pack.

Pawsitively Pampered Pets in the North Valley is worth the drive if you want something special. Their bakery case looks like it belongs in a human pastry shop, with beautifully decorated treats that are as healthy and attractive. After helping a client close on their North Valley adobe last week, I stopped by to pick up their “Duke City Delights” – dog biscuits shaped like hot air balloons that my pups adore.

The Pressley Team’s Favorite DIY Dog Treat: Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Biscuits
If you prefer to celebrate at home, I will share our team pups’ all-time favorite treat recipe. These biscuits have been tested and enthusiastically approved by every dog on our team (and their humans often sneak a taste, too – they’re that good!).

Sandia Mountain Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Biscuits
Ingredients:
• 2½ cups whole wheat flour (oat flour works great for dogs with wheat sensitivities)
• 2 eggs
• ½ cup canned pumpkin (pure pumpkin, not pie filling)
• 2 tablespoons peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol)
• ½ teaspoon cinnamon
• ½ teaspoon salt
• Water as needed
Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, pumpkin, and peanut butter in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Add the flour, cinnamon, and salt until the mixture forms a stiff dough. If it’s too dry, add a little water, one tablespoon at a time.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll to about ¼ inch thick.
  5. Cut into shapes – I use a bone-shaped cookie cutter, but a simple knife to make squares works fine when in a hurry.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes or until stiff.
  7. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

  8. What I love about these treats is that they’re perfect for our high desert climate – they stay fresh for about two weeks in an airtight container, and you can freeze them for up to three months. Whenever we welcome a new family with dogs to Albuquerque, I include a batch of these in their welcome basket.

Celebrating with Your Dog in Dog-Friendly Albuquerque
One of the things our clients love most about Albuquerque is how pet-friendly our city is. After enjoying some special treats today, why not take your pup for an adventure at one of our amazing dog-friendly locations?

The Sandia Mountains offer gorgeous trails where leashed dogs are welcome. We often recommend the La Luz Trail to clients looking for amazing views and a dog-friendly hike. Remember to hydrate before you go, and be sure to bring water for both of you!

Roosevelt Park near downtown is another favorite among our dog-owning clients. Its large grassy areas are perfect for a post-treat play session, and the shade trees provide welcome relief on warmer days.

Suppose your pup is socialized and enjoys making friends. In that case, Coronado Dog Park offers separate areas for large and small dogs, making it a perfect spot to burn off the energy from those treats.

Finding the Perfect Home for You and Your Dog
At The Sandi Pressley Team, we understand that finding the right home means finding the right fit for every family member—including those with four legs. When working with dog owners, we pay special attention to features that make life with pets more manageable and enjoyable. From yards with secure fencing to neighborhoods with walking paths to homes with wash stations for muddy paws, we know what pet parents need.

We’ve helped countless families find homes where humans and canines can thrive. Just last month, we helped a family with three large dogs find a beautiful property in the North Valley with direct access to the Bosque trails – a dog walker’s paradise!

As fellow dog lovers, we get it – your pets’ needs are crucial to your home search. Whether you’re looking for a condo near dog-friendly parks or a home with a spacious yard for fetch games, we know the Albuquerque neighborhoods and properties that will work best for your entire family.

So, as you celebrate National Dog Biscuit Day with your furry friends, remember that when you’re ready to find a new place to store those dog treats, The Sandi Pressley Team is here to help you find the perfect Albuquerque home for everyone in your family – no matter how many legs they have.
