Are you looking for a great way to improve your home in Albuquerque? You might be thinking about painting the walls, buying new furniture, and all the usual home improvement ideas. How about an improvement that will improve your health as well as your home? The answer is simple – plants! Yes, plants should not only be on your home improvement list, but at the top.
No, not fake plants. Real plants are the real deal. In fact, they’ve come back as one of the main design trends in 2020.
More and more designers have noted the importance of having live plants in a home. They have many advantages over fake plants. How so?
Most are low maintenance
Not all of us have green thumbs. But that’s not a problem, as there are a variety of plants that don’t need to be fussed over. One such plant is the Chinese Evergreen. This handsome plant is also tough, so it doesn’t need a lot of care. It doesn’t mind low light or random watering, as long as it doesn’t stay wet for extended periods.
Another hearty plant is the ZZ plant, as it’s virtually indestructible. In fact, it will do better if you leave it alone. It can’t get any easier.
Best for your health
We all know that plants are good for your health. They enhance air quality and can help counteract the effects of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and indoor air pollution. Spider plants are a great example of this and are easy to grow. You can start with a small plant and it will get large in no time.
The Ficus is another air purifying plant and a good choice if you’re looking for something that can grow large. An indoor Ficus can get as tall as 10 feet, and is another low-maintenance option.
Easiest herb garden starter
An indoor herb garden is a great way to bring fresh plants into your home and and have fresh herbs for cooking. You can either start them off with seeds or as small plants, potting them in rich organic potting soil. They usually love heat or bright light, so try to put them near a southern or western window, or use a grow light.
The right plants can even help you get a better night’s sleep. Jasmine or lavender are perfect plants for helping you relax. Lavender can decrease heart rate and blood pressure, as well as relax the mind and improve sleep quality. To grow lavender in your bedroom, it’s best to place it on a windowsill or in direct sunlight and plant it in dry soil.
You don’t have to be a gardening guru to have live plants in your home. You’ll find them to be one of the best home improvement projects you’ve ever done.
